Intermittent issue of the speedometer not working?

1989 Plymouth Acclaim, mileage: 130,000. My speedometer doesn't work at times. How can I fix it?

If your speedometer is cable driven, you will need to replace the cable. If it is electronically driven, try replacing the vehicle speed sensor in the transmission.
