'89 Grand Marquis

I have an '89 Mercury Grand Marquis. Everytime I start the engine, it will idle but quickly will shut off unless I put it in drive and start driving. What may be the problem?

Clean the throttle-body and idle air system. Any applicable trouble codes? How long since a tune-up?
