89 Honda CRX Clutch Clicking!

So a couple weeks ago whenever I pushed the clutch down when it rose up there was a small click. Then one day while driving the clutch cable gave out. I replaced the cable the next day, and for 2 weeks everything was fine. Then eventually the clicking came back whenever I pushed the clutch down, and then the new cable snapped too. I put a new one back on and this time I routed it over the intake manifold than under the intake manifold where the last 2 had been but the clicking is still there. Could it be the pedal?

Where is the noise coming from? Transmission end or at pedal?

If the cable is breaking off that easily, something must be wrong either with the routing or quality.

Did you lubricate the cable eye where it hooks onto the pedal?

Only the hooked area. Normal multi-purpose grease would do.
