1989 Dodge Dakota Transmission lost all gears suddenly

Put to much trans fluid went driving down hwy and suddenly all gears except for park stopped working I towed home drained excess fluid and still no gears i also noticed there is no pressure in system linkage is fine and all lines are fine how could it just lose all gears with no warning everything was fine before this.this is a 89 dakota auto transmission with overdrive

the new fluid could have ate the clutch paks up or it was ready to go anyhow

I've never heard of a transmission going out with no warning at all especially all the gears at once

if an oil pump goes out you won't have anything
