I am a 74 year old female, so bear with me :) I have taken my vehicle to numerous places for a tune-up and I still have the same problem. Except first mechanic put in wrong spark plugs. When the engine heats up and I am driving slow, when you start to accelerate, it pops or misses. I have had the spark plugs changed twice, still the same, but not as bad as it was. Last tune up, 3 months ago, the guy said it might be valves. How can they not know? Can you give me a clue? I have no one else to ask.
Thank you. Wish I could give donation, but I'm a Senior on limited in-come.

Hi:
First, since the plugs didn't help, it could be a valve that is bunt. They need to check engine compression to see if there is low compression in any of the cylinders. Also, you vehicle has an OBD 1 computer system. The computer, although basic, can guide them to what may be the problem. They need to scan the computer to determine what trouble codes are stored in it. The code will be a 2 digit number and will point us in the right direction of things to check. Have them scan it FIRST and let me know what they find. If you can get the trouble code from them, it would help me.
