car was totalled but money was put into engine. is it possible to salvage?

can an engine from an 89 325i convertible bmw be switched into another 89 325i?

Sure it can, as long as the same engine was removed.

so if it was any body of a 325i 89 the engine could have just been placed in it. would this procedure cost a lot of money?

so knowing the car and what it is worth would doing this procedure lose money or be a worthy transaction ?
