1988 Mercedes Benz 500sl Repair Question

Mercedes 560 sl stalls and starts right up almost as if the fuel is choked. engine and idle is smooth?
Can happen at low accelleration, just cruising w/not much gas pedal pressure.

added info: other times there might be a kick at high accellaration and then when you let off the gas while slowing it stalls. Again starts right back up and will continue to drive.

additional info: also the car has been serviced and maintained it's whole life....very clean and normally performs optimally.
