What does the camshaft position senser have to do with the car not getting fuel in the cyclinders?

Cam sensor has nothing to do with fuel delivery.

The distributor pick up sends a signal to the computer to turn on the pump when cranking. This assumes that the rest of the components are working.

You are saying it stays running after you prime it? What is the fuel pressure?
