I own a 1988 Honda accord lx, with ac, 1955 cc 4cyl, carb engine. My haynes manual says in order to replace the water pump, I DO NOT have to replace the timing belt or remove its cover; Is this true? If so, how many man hours are involved also?

Thank You. Love this site :-) I use it all the time.

To install, reverse removal procedure using new "O" rings. Tighten bolts to specification. Loosen cooling system bleed bolt on thermostat housing. Fill radiator with coolant. Close bleed bolt when steady stream of coolant appears.
