1988 Chevrolet Corvette Just Bought This Car Battery Fully Charged Only Get

I just bought this car. the battery is fully charged and I only get the dash and all components of car to work but it does not start or even make a noise when i attempt. the previous owner said it overheated on her and ran a few times since but I cannot get any type of reaction from it. was wondering where I should start with my diagnosis?
