WHAT WOULD CAUSE THE FUEL PUMP ON A 87 TOYOTA PICK UP TO QUIT RUNNING AFTER IT IS STARTED?

bad ignition switch? bad relay? bad electrical connections?

or maybe it has an oil pressure safety feature to kill pump? the sender might be bad?

To add to this, the fuel pump itself could be quitting after a short spurt also. It needs to be systematically troubleshooted.

You will need to check to see if the spark plugs are firing. If not, check the coil see if its firing. If not, check and make sure you have power to coil. If so, it is more than likely the ignition module.
