87 saab 900 s n/a manual trans when i put it in 1st gear its in 3rd wat causing this

u need to check your gear shifter linkage ,that's the section from the engine side,near firewall that is connected to the gearbox shaft itself ,it sounds like you have one of the plastic linkage rods loose causing youe issue ,good luck.
