It sounds like it idles fine, however, once given gas it will die. For awhile it would drive if I punched the throttle, but it would sputter at me. Idk if its the carb adj. Or new spark plugs, new distributor cap, or what. I get different answers from anybody I ask. But theres so many different vacuum lines on the carb idk how to properly adjust it. Any help?

There are two different carbs a mikuni or nikki probably this thing needs an overhaul due to age and alcohol in fuel.

What if I were to put a completely different carb on it, like one from a small block Ford? Is there an interchangeable carb I could put on there?

That may be a weber but it's about$60 or so for a rebuild kit unless it needs a float. You migh tcheck into a weber carb it may have the adapter as well as carb but they are around $500 look in one of the truck magazines.
