i have a 89 Honda civic lx 1.5 liter I need to know how to put it in time the timing belt

Do u have to have number one cylinder up and u just half to have the cam in the up position and which line do I use on the crank pulley

Put number one piston on it's compression stroke and line the cam and crank as illustrated on picture.

87 honda civic 4wd wagon, timing belt broke while driving down dirt road bout 50km/hr... what are chances of engine damage? rolled car to safe pullover spot, then towed it home w/my van.Home only couple kms away back up hill. thanks

50/50. Remove the valve cover and check the valve clearances. If any has excessive clearance, it is bent.

Turn piston to TDC and then turn it away 20 degrees before you attempt to turn the camshaft.

I need to kinow how do you know to set the timing if there are no marks, How do you set the timing then?

I mean the timing belt marks, how do you set it if there's no mark on the wheel?

If there is no mark on the pulley, you would have to gauge the TDC of piston with the aid of a screwdriver down the plug hole.
