1987 Ford Ranger has been in operable for several months. The engine sputters and bucks and stalls while going up hill. The fuel filter was checked; it was replaced 3,000 miles ago. The external/inline fuel pump was replaced and the problem continued. Yesterday, I replaced the fuel tank screen and the internal fuel pump. The gas/fuel tank is clean.

My grandfather is trying to help me. We are clueless. Any suggestion will be very much appreciated.

Sounds like maybe ya got a spark issue under load. Have you checked plugs and wires? It's an 87 so pretty old. How about distributor cap and rotor? Is coil puttin out strong spark? The main coil wire might be the culprit since bucking usually means no spark at all. Are the plugs a nice tan color?
