Chrysler Le Baron Engine Problem

I have a 87 Chrysler Lebaron. Sometimes when I start the car, it will idle for a bit and then die. Most of the time it runs, but when I accelerate, it feels like gas is struggling to make it to the engine. It accelerates slowly. When I drive at high speeds for an extended amount of time, my engine gets really hot. If I turn it off after this, the car won't start until the engine has cooled back down. I feel like all these problems are related. I just had a fuel system cleaning. Any advice?

All those symptoms together point to a possible plugged catalytic converter. Your mechanic can do a back-pressure test to verify that.
