I got a voltswagen mk2 golf. The boy says it will start but then turns right back off. What could this be.

From here it seems the best advice I can offer is to have the vehicle scanned for fault codes and await that outcome

Solenoid switch behind the carburetor. Switch the ignition on and listen for a clicking sound; if not try giving it a live feed from the battery.
