my car will only get up to 20 mphs and than it stalls out..

when i get to 20 mph my car stalls out and i have to keep recranking it.. it wont go pass 20 mph.. i clean the wires by the transmission.... and it still does the same problem.. can you please help me out... it just started it.. thanks so much...
