1996 GMC Safari van

I just started the van and drove approx. One mile started to smell heavily of wires or plastic burning. What should I check?

Hunting a smell is like hunting a needle in a haystack. Check the fuse box. Check wiring under the dash and under the hood. If the smell is more concentrated under the hood, start looking there. Could be anywhere?
