When in overdrive at speeds of 55-70 vehicle.

When in overdrive at speeds of 55-70 vehicle shifts up and down rapidly(chugging like effect)when put manually into drive this does not occur. What causes this and how do I correct the problem.

The torque converter is either worn out or has a bad solenoid.

How hard is it to replace the solenoid and how can you tell if it is the torque converter or the solenoid. Thank you.
