Why does my car give me a hard time starting up?

If I start my car when its cold it starts right up. But If I go food shopping for 20 mins it gives me a real hard time starting up.It sounds like if out of gas.It takes a good 8 times turning over the motor, then it starts up. But if its cold in the moring it starts right up.It just gives me a bad time just if its still hot or warm then thats when it does'nt fire up,just when its cold.

mine does the same thing, when cold it starts almost before I turn the key then revs at about 1000rpm until normal rinning tempreture is attained. when it is hot I hold the accelerator about half way down and it stats ok, its a matter of working out how cold it must be to start without the pedal being touched
