I'm getting a transmission rebuild kit and I want to know the difference between the kit with Syncro Rings and the kit without them?

One kit will be bearings and seals only, the syncro rings are brass synchronizing rings, these are the "braking" rings for want of a better name, these slow the gear and synchronize the gears to be selected so they lock in easily, if you have clashing when you are selecting the gears the syncro rings will probably be worn.

So on my little 85 1.9 liter do you think I should get the rings or not?

I would if it was my car, you don't want to be doing it again if a syncro goes bad later on.
