I have a 1985 GMC S/15 2.5 ltr 5 speed manual trans- my problem is when I go to back up or go forward a little and put the clutch in the truck wants to flood out and die what is it?

when I try to go forward or backward a little and push in the clutch to stop the engine flutters and wants to die and just dies alot of times. I have replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter and it did not help the problem what do I do?

Why would the clutch effect the way the motor runs, is there something electronic hooked to it? I dont know that is why i'm asking. The motor surges and dies but if I keep feathering the gas pedal it will smooth back out and keep running smooth. I also had a new clutch installed in it and the truck was doing what it is doing prior to the new clutch. Thank you

No, but if you ever stalled it going to slow or released it too soon and the engine stalled, it is because the engine is laboring, of course if the clutch is working properly, then a vacuum leak, low fuel pressure, tune up, timing adjustment or idle speed adjustment might be needed. If your sure the clutch is releasing and applying right, look into these other things.
