when i shut the truck off the motor runs backwards

Try using better gas. Also, you may want to have the intake and cleaned. Carbon builds up there and on the top of the pistons. The carbon gets hot and ignites the fuel rather than the spark plugs. This is called dieseling. If you can get the carbon out, the problem usually goes away.
