When starting car , it dies when the ignition switch is rekeased but will stay running if you hold the switch in start position.

ignition module sounds like it has failed. common failure with the old EEC systems.

Also could be your primary circuit to the coil is open or defective ignition switch

i'd go with bad out of proper adjustment ignition switch.
