Ford F-150 Hood Problem

Tried to start truck (been sitting for a couple of days- 20 degree weather and then rain). Engine tried to turn over but than made a noise and good amount of gray smoke came out from under hood on passenger side. Should I try restarting or have towed to mechanic ? Just starting to restore .

Sounds like the starter solenoid might be bad. It is near the battery on the passenger fender under the hood.
