1984 CADILLAC CIMARRON CAR WILL START AND DRIVE FINE FOR A WHILE THEN IT WILL STOP. THEN WHEN YOU START IT AGAIN IT STARTS FINE BUT WHEN YOU PUT IT INTO DRIVE IT DIES. YOU HAVE TO WAIT AWHILE AND IT WILL START AND DRIVE FOR AWHILE AGAIN. IT HAS UNDER 50,000 MILES ON IT. WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT?

A good possibility is a stuck TCC solenoid. What happens when it sticks is it keeps the torque converter in a locked up state. You might be able to somewhat confirm it by disconnecting the electrical connection from the transmission. This would prevent it from normally engaging, and therefore your symptom as described, should not happen.

SAMWOLFE -

May I request that you contact me? I work within the Events department at Charlotte Motor Speedway and we are desperately searching for a Cimarron to complete a showcase in our Food Lion AutoFair, which takes place in April, and it is known as the world's largest car extravaganza. If you could please, please e-mail me at interns-events@charlottemotorspeedway. Com, that would be incredible!

Thank you for your time,

Jennifer
