my 1983 ford mustang v8 5.0L will not start and may have a deadspot on the fly wheel how do i fix this?

Pull the starter and check the ring gear, if it is chewed out the transmission must be removed to replace it, older engines often tend to stop on one spot due to one cylinder having a higher compression, so the starter tends to work on the same spot most starts.
