82 toyota pickup has too much compression in radiator. Top hose burst and i replaced it but wont start after that. A friend told me the radiator is getting way too much compression and is blowing water out of the radiator with pressure if the cap is off. He suggested it might be a head gasket. I was wondering if anyone had a similar problem and if it could be anything else?

If you go to Autozone, they will loan you a cooling system pressure tester, this will find leaky head gaskets and other leaks, confirm bad head gasket with a block test kit, also sold at Autozone and other part stores, it tests for the pressence of hydrocarbons in the antifreeze, which is a confirmation of either a blown gasket, cracked head or cracked block. If this is your problem, you can check this product out, I haven't used it, but big claims are made by the company!
