what is the biggest engine

I have a 79 chevy corvette that has an defective engine. I was wanted to know whats the biggest engine I can use with the standard 350 TH transmission? Currently has an defective 350 engine. Was thinking about upgrading to a 400 motor. Wanted to know if the 350 Transmission would work with a bigger motor than a 350 engine.

yes it's a bolt in swap. the problem with a 400 is it's a siamese boore so it runs hotter. you are better off i f you wan tot do make it faster or quickeris switch to a 383, that is a 350 with a 400 crank in it. there are several companies that make this and are readily available. Even GM has a complete motor for this app. You cna reuse your block if it's not to damaged.
