1979 Chevrolet Camaro starting problems on chevy 350

are you getting fuel to carb? got compression? have spark to plugs or not

I have good fuel and oil pressure ,.good spark i got good compression as well turns over very easy

what kin dof ignition system do you have? is compression good on all cylinders
if you are getting fue an dspark it shold start unless timing chain jumped

I have a toggle switch for on and off and then push button start I have only checked number one spark plug and will probly pull the timing cover tonight and check it

just put to tdc and put dist to same see if it'smoved. if you have the spring style clip tohold dist throw that away and get a solid piece at high revs they let the dist jump up and out of time. also check to make sure power is going through your toggle switch

I think maybe if found the problem my bottom timing gear has 3 keyways and right now its on the advanced key so hopefully tomorrow I can get it set right and get it running

well thank you for the help ive got one more question. is my timing to far advanced or not enough when it shots flames through carb.

it's out of time period to far advanced will do that as well as retarded.
