Need help taking out starter

Got a new battery for my 1978 toyota pickup. Sometimes it starts and other times it just clicks. Doesn't turn over. I was trying to take out the starter to have it checked out but am having trouble getting it out. Can you help me step by step

Since your problem is intermittent, you probably won't have any luck testing it that way. You need to determine if power is arriving at the "S" terminal of the starter solenoid at the fender well.
