1978 Lincoln Continental Repair Question

I have a 460 cubic in. Engine in a 1978 continental mark 5 lincoln. I`m have trouble getting fire to the coal what do i need to do or check out

It was running good then last week it shut off and then it turn back on and then it shut back off and smoke came up and now it wont turn on..i replaced the fuel pump and the coal and still nothing.. What do i need to do

Make sure the coil is getting battery voltage at the coil's positive terminal-if not check the primary circuit back to the ignition switch

Check and test the distributor pick up coil/gap and ignition control module-start here
