my VW super beetle recently stopped running (it was going fine up to that point then one morning it just wouldn't start), it turns over fine it just won't start. did some poking and it doesn't seem to be getting fuel pressure so wondering if the fuel pump is the issue. checked europartsdirect.com and found two types of fuel pumps, a generator model and an alternator model. heard the alternator model is more efficient and dependable but my car currently has the generator type. when I take my old pump off, can I put an alternator type on without making any other major changes or do I need to stick with the generator? thanks.
