Hey I have a 1972 olds cutlass 442 with a 455 mondello engine she gets fuel from carb, tries to crank over but will not fire, just replaced spark plugs, what could be the problem she has 590hp at the rear wheels and this is driving me nuts, she ran fine out and about then started running rough on the way home we shut her off and now she wont start?

Every engine requires spark, fuel and compression to run. That's what we have to look for.

These are the basics that need to be tested and will give us the info required to isolate a cause.

You say you have verified fuel, just make sure the carb isn't flooding.

Test for spark at the plug end of the wire using a spark tester. If none found, check for power supply on the + terminal of the coil with the key on.

If all of these things check good, then you would need to do a complete compression test.
