Ford F-100 Battery Problem

I just purchased a new battery 5 days ago, I drove my truck to a store,came out it different fire up right away had to make another stop try to start it battery dead had it jumped, it started drove it home turned it off it was dead again, any thoughts thanks for your time Mike

alternator has failed. check battery voltage running, should be 14 to 14.5 volts

I had the same problem with my 72 ford F100. It turned out that the way they put the alternator on, the wires on the back of it were grounding out on the engine. Maybe you are having the same problem. Good luck!
