1970 Volkswagen Beetle Trying Start V W On Uneven Surface Takes More Than

when trying to start my v.w. beetle on a uneven surface it takes more than normal times to start it smells and sounds like the carburator is flooded but on a level surface no problems starting

Check the gasket for the float chamber.... remove 5 screws from the top of the carb so you can lift it off (Disconnect whatever else is needed).
