1969 chevy truck. Auto matic. The truck is 2 speed trans and it jolts when gearing down is this normal? And oil is leaking under truck. Person I bought from said it is possible the oil filter is bad because its been sitting long time. How can I check it myself? My regular mechanic is sick. Please help. Thanks

Check to see if the vacuum line is connected to the modulator on thepassenger side. It should be not rrotted or holes in it. It should also be connected to intake behind carb. If this has the cannister type oil filter then remove it and get an adapter for aspin on type, the cannister may have two gaskets stuck up in it instead of one that it takes. The spin on adapter is about $20 I think, maybe cheaper. Plus a filter.

Check the fluid level and condition-If you wish change the oil and the filter and go from there-if it continues have it pressure tested to find out more what's happening
