1969 buick lesabre keep staling when taking off what can be the problem

How long since a tune-up? You ever put a carb kit in it? All the little adjustments come with the carb kit. Have you tried adjusting the idle. With older high-mileage engines, you can adjust it where it will idle in drive, but, way to high idle in park. You have to find a happy medium, if there is such a thing?
