1968 AMC Javelin Repair Question
Amc javelin cranks, has spark and gas in the carburetor but still wont start

WHERE DID YOU LOOK FOR SPARK?

we looked for spark by putting a screw driver in the spark plug wire. yes it is points
Are you getting a good hot blue snapping spark? If you have fuel and spark, it has to run unless the compression is too low, timing problems, or a weak spark.
ENGINE OFF
MANUALLY TURN CRANK TILL POINTS ARE CLOSED
WITH SOMETHING INSULATED (PEN, STICK, ETC) OPEN POINTS OVER AND OVER
DO THEY SPIT AND POP NICE SPARKS?
ANYTHING RECENT HISTORY OR DONE THAT MIGHT HELP ME?

DOES IT SPIT AND SPUTTER LIKE IT WANTS TO BUST OFF?
OR IS IT JUST DRY OVER AND OVERS?
IF YOU PUT MUCH MORE FUEL IN IT THAN, LETS SAY 3 PLASTIC SODA BOTTLE TOP-FULS IT MAY BE FLOODED

Which engine do you have in this car, and do you have any interest in the sale of it?
it doesn't even make a pop like it wants to start but the battery was half way dead and it has been sitting for allot of years. it is a six syl.
i think it is because the battery is dead
