1964 Chevrolet Truck Repair Question

Rear differential gear ratio

Is there a place I can look to find the gear ratio for ther rear end of my 1964 c10 stepside truck? It has a 12 bolt rear end in it. originally it a a straight six engine with a 4 speed manual trans w granny low.

Also is there a place that can print me or just give me the factory windows sticker specs for this truck by the vin?

I don't believe they kept those records back then.

You can find out by counting the turns. Mark the bottom of both tires with a crayon. If it's a limited slip, count the turns of the driveshaft to make one revolution of the tire. If it not a limited slip. hold one tire still and turn till the other one rotates 2 turns.. You'r choices should be like 2.90 - 3.23-. 3.73 - 4.11
