Im trying to start an outboard motor. I hooked a new battery and battery cables to it. Tried to start it. NOTHING. There is 3 wires both on pos and neg I had to cut to put the new battery. Would those wires be for my ignition switch?

You will have to talk to an outboard repairer, we have no information on these engines.

hook the wires back up they probably feed everything to your ignition as well as charging system if you have one.......
