Im changing the fuel tank sending unit on my 1963 chevy impala due to the fact I beleive its the original, tired one and is no longer working properly. My question is this, ill be attempting this in my home garage, how difficult is it to undo the straps, remove tank and old unit and reinstall everything, I beleive those are the steps. Any and all tips, advice is very much appreciated, thank you.

Well you have the jest of operation. Rust will be problem soak strap bolt in penatrate. Remove filler tube if rubber hose will not come off cut and replace. Let tank down enough to reach fuel line, disconnect and wiring to sender. Terminal may break record wiring locations. Ring holding sender/pick up needs toool but can be removed with BRASS drify taping at each on threelugs of ring. Tap till ring is free. Remove sender will take some manipulating. Test old sender with OHM meter
Good Luck
