I have a car that sat outside for 7 years. It's a convertible. It never got started in that time. It had a new carburetor installed a few months before it sat. The car ran good before it sat. Is it worth fixing, what could be wrong? Or should I just scrap it/ sell on eBay for parts?

Wow! A 63 should be worth some money. As far as the vehicle, not being there to see its condition makes it hard for me to tell if it is worth fixing. As far as sitting, that is very hard on a vehicle. If it was over grass, chances are brake lines and all steel components under the vehicle are bad/rusted. Now, since it sat for so long, you will need to drain the fuel tank, blow out the fuel lines and most likely take the carb apart to clean it. Also, check and top off all fluids before you try starting it.

I would love to see a pic of it. If you can upload one, that would be great!

So far it hasn't been started yet, It has a few leaks that I'm taking care of. The water pump was leaking and I believe the oil pan was too (at least somewhere in the oil area, haven't checked yet) The car was sitting on gravel rocks so the underneath is actually pretty good. So far I have sprayed a little starter fluid in the carb (after I cleaned it and re hooked it up) without the belts on (too avoid it actually starting without oil in) It attempted to fire up. But the top and top motor and most electrical is all in great shape.

I can keep you informed if you're interested in how it goes.
Thanks for the original reply (forgot to thank you, sorry)
