Have you replaced the condenser, a faulty condenser can cause ignition problems like this.

Mhpautos,

IS THIS THE SAME FELLER WE DISCUSSED WHETHER HE HAD A "BALLAST RESISTOR" OR A "RESISTANCE WIRE" ORIGINATING FROM HIS IGNITION SWITCH'S "ON POSITION"?

A COIL, DOES NORMALLY GET WARM, SOMETIMES KIND OF HOT. IS THE THE COIL THAT IS RECOMMENDED FOR THIS CAR. OR IS IT SOMETHING, SOMEONE SUGGESTED THAT YOU TRY?

YOU DO HAVE POINTS? OR HAS THIS BEEN UPGRADED WITH A ELECTRONIC AFTERMARKET ADDITION

IF POINTS. IS DWELL CORRECT. ARE YOU SETTING THE TIMING AT THE CORRECT IDLE SPEED?

LOOK IN THE BOTTOM OF YOUR DISTRIBUTOR AND INSURE THAT THE "MECHANICAL ADVANCE" WEIGHTS ARE NOT PERMANENTLY "SPRUNG OUTWARD" BECAUSE THE RETURN SPRING IS BROKEN!

Sandun,

IS THIS A 12 VOLT SYSTEM?

REMOVE YOUR "POSITIVE" COIL WIRE, TURN YOUR KEY "ON" AND TEST VOLTAGE ON THAT WIRE. SEND RESULTS

mhpautos IS ALSO CORRECT WITH THE CONDENSER, POSSIBLY CAUSING PROBLEMS LIKE THIS

HAVING TO "GEAR DOWN" (LACK OF POWER) IS A SYMPTOM OF "TIMING" RELATED PROBLEMS

JUST OUT OF CURIOSITY. WHERE ON EARTH ARE YOU?

SEND BACK THE VOLTAGE TEST RESULTS

JUST TRYING TO HELP!

THE MEDIC
