I am traveling and my mechanic did not reset the abs light after he worked on the brakes. I won't be home for a few months. I took it into a local mechanic to reset as there is not a problem with the brakes, but he said that I needed to go to a lexus dealer. Is there any way to reset the abs indicator without taking it to a lexus dealer.

thx

Hi jaron,

YEs, there is a manual way of resetting the ABS.

CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC)
1. Remove short pin from Data Link Connector No. 1 (DLC1). See Fig. 7 . DLC1 is located in engine compartment, right side of intake manifold next to fire wall. Using a fused jumper wire or Service Connector (SST 09843-18020), connect terminals Tc and E1 of Data Link Connector No. 1 (DLC1). See Fig. 8 . Turn ignition on. With vehicle stopped, press brake pedal 8 or more times within 5 seconds. Codes will be cleared.

2. Verify ABS light goes out after 3 seconds. Verify ABS DTC have been cleared and normal code is present. Turn ignition off. Remove fused jumper wire or Service Connector (SST 09843-18020), from DLC1 connector.
