I am considering buying a volvo. I'm wondering about the expense of general maintenance such as oil changes, etc.-I realize the parts price is elevated, but what about labor? Is there really a huge difference in expense to own and maintain?

I was requested to assist in the Volvo realm as I am a BMW master and really don't have much Volvo experience. There is a misconception that some cars are $$$ to keep running and/or maintain. If you follow the regular maintenance schedule and drive the cars as they were intended to be driven then there isn't really much difference in maintenance costs for European cars in relation to Asian or American cars. In fact I have it on good authority that the Japanese cars have risen to the top as far as comparable parts costs go (for some items) as to the labor, you can almost always get on the phone and shop the price around for simple items such as oil and filter changes. Hope this assists you with your decision to purchase your Volvo.
