1990 Volvo 240 200000 miles
I drive (or drove) a pretty decent 1990 volvo 240 DL. Last week I noticed smoke coming up out of the hood when I got home from school, and a terrible smell. I opened the hood, didn't see anything out of the ordinary and none of my guages read hot or anything of that nature. A day later, a loud squealing noise occurred whenever I was going at a low speed and would last only a couple minutes, followed by a smell. Well, driving to work last week, a belt breaks and my steering becomes more difficult. We assumed it's the power steering belt. My boyfriend and I are no where near mechanics, but assumed it would be simple enough to replace a belt. We are having some difficulties. Is there anyway a step by step how-to of how to change a belt could be offered? And perhaps a little insight as to why the belt broke? Could there be a larger problem at hand, or just a worn out tired belt?
have the same problem?
