Engine Mechanical problem
1989 Volvo 240 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 250k+ miles
We had a pin shear in the cam and I replaced it but the cam was stiff. The engine came back to life and we drove it for about a month. My son took it out of town and let the oil get way low and it burned off the timing belt and the cam seems seized.
Should I look for a short block or do you think I can bring this engine back. It never smoked or lost power while we have driven it ~100k miles?
If we burned the bearings in the cam can I repair it or find a rebuilt head- seeking advice.
I don't know where the oil is going other than maybe the oil trap. It is strange because it wont use any oil until you drive a long distance and then it dumps a lot? Maybe heat related with the oil trap?
