Hi. Just recently bought the car but still looks new. Brakes are not releasing properly causing the brakes to drag and get hot. The brake pedal is also VERY sensitive. If you touch it while driving, it feels like you're making an emergency stop! After many days of searching for the problem, I unscrewed the master cylinder to give a 5mm gap from the booster. Tested the brakes and it releases properly like it should. I took off all the calipers and noticed the pads were gone, can you help me do a brake job please?

I changed both my front brake pads and discs and also had the drivers side wheel bearing changed. Ever since I’ve had it done, the brakes really make a loud squeak as soon as I press the brake pedal. It’s nonstop and continuous until I let go of the pedal. Is there something that’s been done wrong or is this normal? I’ve read mixed reviews. Also the brake pedal feels like it’s releasing air every time I press it. Any suggestions!

Chances are the pads that were used are bad. At this point, you have one of two choices. First, they do make a product that is applied to the backing plate of the brake pad that is to absorb vibration and help eliminate noise. Or, try replacing the pads themselves.

It's interesting. I just went through a similar issue with my own vehicle. I replaced the rear brake shoes (drum brakes) and they sounded horrible to a point it was embarrassing. Took things apart and everything appeared normal, so I got a replacement set of brake shoes and installed them. It hasn't made a sound since.

Thank you for your reply Joe. I got the pads and discs changed and they’re no longer making a noise. However, my top Caliper bolt has been Helicoiled due to little to no thread. I’ve also been told I can get a new hub fitted which is going to be very expensive I believe. Is the Helicoil method dangerous in any way? And will I have to get new bolts or helicoil every time I change my pads and discs? Thank you

I'm glad to hear the noise is gone. I'm not sure where the brakes are coming from anymore, but I have been getting ones that make noise, the pad material is too thick and can be installed, and even the backing plates have been off enough to cause a rattle. Ugh! LOL

As far as the helicoil, that is an industry standard. If it was installed correctly, you will have no trouble and it should not require replacement every time. It could after several uses come out, but then a new one can be reinstalled.

They are correct that the brakes need to be replaced as the rotors get hot and warp and it causes this pulsation.
